NPS has released some further details regarding ticketed entry. The most important bit is that the sale of tickets for Summer 2024 begin tomorrow, the 25th of January, at 8AM Mountain Time.

Tickets will be released on a rolling basis, each day, for dates 120 days out. Here is their press release.

Glacier National Park will continue its ticketed entry system for the majority of Summer 2024, however they have just released some changes from previous years.

Key points:

— Going to the Sun Road vehicle reservations will be good for 1 day only (previously they were for 3 days).

—No vehicle reservations needed for the Two Medicine Valley, Apgar area, and the East entrance to the Going to the Sun Road.

If you plan on driving into Glacier with your own vehicle from mid-June to mid-September, during typical daylight hours, you will most likely need to purchase Vehicle Reservation passes. Glacier National Park sells Vehicle Reservation passes through Recreation.gov for each of the major entrances to Glacier National Park (Going to the Sun Road, Many Glacier, Two Medicine, and the North Fork). In 2023, these tickets were required for entry between the hours of 6am and 3pm, each day. Going to the Sun Road tickets were valid for 3 days, while tickets for each of the other entrances were only valid for 1 day. A majority of these tickets were released 4 months prior to the date they were valid. For example, on the first day of February, all the tickets for the entire months of May and June were released. On the first day of March, all the tickets for the month of July were released, and so on. An entire month’s worth of tickets sold out in hours. Glacier National Park would also release tickets 24 hours prior, throughout the summer, but these tickets typically sold out in minutes.

Visitors will need these tickets in order to access most of Glacier National Park each day for the majority of the summer. Plan ahead and be prepared to purchase your tickets the moment they come available, as they tend to go quickly (especially the Going to the Sun Road tickets).
